# 2LNR vs seats.aero: seats we have checked, not prices

It depends on what you track. seats.aero is an award-search aggregator across the loyalty programs listed in its own navigation, and on Pro it also runs upgrade finders for Alaska first class, Air Canada eUpgrades, Emirates, United PlusPoints and JetBlue Mint. 2LNR reads award seats too, and adds the two upgrade types those finders don't cover: American systemwide space and Delta Global and Regional Upgrade Certificate space. On Alaska first-class upgrade space the two overlap. 2LNR's free plan shows a rolling 14-day window you can refresh on demand; Pro at $175 a year opens the full 331-day horizon with unlimited alerts. seats.aero Pro is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and its free tier covers flights departing in the next two months.

## 2LNR vs seats.aero, feature by feature

**Short answer:** both tools watch award space, and both watch some upgrade space. seats.aero aggregates awards across the 26 programs it tracks and adds upgrade finders for Alaska, Air Canada, Emirates, United and JetBlue; 2LNR covers award space across more than 20 airlines and adds the two upgrade types those finders leave out, American systemwide upgrades and Delta Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates, in a standing calendar rather than a search.

We read the prices, program count, tier windows, upgrade tools, Pro alert filters and Partner API terms below on seats.aero's own site, help pages and developer docs on September 30, 2026. The stale-results criticism comes from the reviews linked in Sources. Tell us if something is out of date.

2LNR vs seats.aero feature comparison as of September 2026

| Capability | seats.aero (as of September 2026) | 2LNR (as of September 2026) |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Award coverage | Award space aggregated from the 26 loyalty programs it tracks, searchable across programs at once. | Award availability across more than 20 airlines in a calendar matrix, by route and date, the next 14 days free and the full horizon on Pro. |
| Upgrade inventory | Yes, on Pro, for five carriers: Alaska first class (U inventory, nonstops within North America), Air Canada eUpgrades (R inventory), Emirates, United PlusPoints, and JetBlue Move to Mint. No American systemwide or Delta certificate tool appeared in its Tools menu on the date below. | American systemwide upgrade space, Delta Global and Regional Upgrade Certificate space, and Alaska first-class upgrade space, per flight and date. Alaska overlaps with seats.aero; American and Delta do not. |
| Data freshness | Aggregated results, which seats.aero says update with fresh airline data as you view them; reviewers' recurring criticism is that a listing can already be gone. Pro adds live search on any route. | 2LNR checks availability daily, and you can refresh any cell inside your window on demand, on Free as well as Pro. |
| Free tier | Search, explore and alerts for flights departing within the next two months, in its own words, with no registration required. | 14-day upgrade matrix for American, Delta and Alaska with on-demand refresh, mailbox trip import, loyalty and status tracking. No credit card required. |
| Alerts | Availability alerts on the free tier; Pro adds alert filters for nonstop only, specific airlines, maximum points and maximum fees, plus SMS alerts. | Unlimited alert rules on Pro across upgrade and award space, delivered by email, SMS, in-app, and push. Free has no alerts. |
| Search horizon | The next two months free; Pro unlocks up to a year of availability on all routes, in its own words. | 14 days on Free; all 331 days on Pro. |
| Price | Pro $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr. Free tier available. | Pro $175/yr or $50/quarter. Free $0. |

We read every seats.aero fact in this table on its own site and help pages on September 30, 2026, including the upgrade finders in its Tools menu, which only show up on the live page. The stale-results criticism is the one exception: it comes from the reviews linked in Sources.

## What seats.aero does well

A comparison is only useful if it's fair to the other tool. Two things seats.aero does well, stated plainly.

### Breadth, answered instantly

seats.aero's core trick is coverage. It tracks award space in 26 loyalty programs, and its Explore tool answers "where can I go on points" across most of them at once, returning results immediately. Alerts are included on the free tier. If you hold transferable points and have no fixed destination yet, that's a different question from the one 2LNR answers, and seats.aero answers it well.

### Pro adds live search, upgrade finders and developer access

Pro searches any route live, which is the right guard against acting on an aggregated result before you transfer points. It also adds advanced alert filters, up to a year of availability and a Partner API for non-commercial use. Its browser extension, which shows points pricing next to cash fares on Google Flights, works on the free tier too.

Pro carries genuine upgrade tools too, and it's worth saying plainly because this page used to claim otherwise: finders for Alaska first class, Air Canada eUpgrades, Emirates, United PlusPoints and JetBlue Mint. If Alaska first class is the upgrade you chase, seats.aero looks at the same upgrade space 2LNR does.

## Where 2LNR takes a different approach

The two products answer different questions. These are the three differences that decide which one fits your year.

### American and Delta upgrade inventory, which its finders leave out

Award space and upgrade space are separate buckets, and no award search returns either American or Delta upgrade space. An American systemwide upgrade clears against C-class inventory (A class for Flagship First) and Delta Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates clear against their own; seats.aero's upgrade finders cover Alaska, Air Canada, Emirates, United and JetBlue, not those two. 2LNR tracks American, Delta and Alaska per flight and date, so you commit a certificate only where space already exists.

The workflow for American is in the [step-by-step SWU search guide](https://2lnr.com/guides/swu-search.md).

### A window you can refresh, not stored results you wait on

The recurring criticism of aggregated results in the reviews linked below is staleness: a result stands until something re-verifies it, and on seats.aero, searching live is a Pro feature. 2LNR checks availability daily and lets you refresh any cell inside your window on demand, on the free plan too. Fourteen days is a small window, but what it shows is current.

### Upgrades, awards, and alerts in one calendar

The same calendar carries award availability across [more than 20 airlines](https://2lnr.com/awards.md) and upgrade space on American, Delta, and Alaska, with one alert engine over both. The interactive route map is free to browse without an account, and trips import automatically from Gmail or Outlook, so the routes you already fly populate themselves.

## Who should use which

Neither tool is a superset of the other. Here's the split, by the question you're actually asking.

### Use seats.aero when the destination is open

"I have 150,000 transferable points and eight days in October, where can I go in business class?" is a breadth question across many programs at once, and that's what an aggregator is built for. If you're shopping partner programs you've never booked before, start there.

### Use 2LNR when the route is fixed

"I fly Dallas to London twice a quarter and I hold two systemwide upgrades" is a depth question. You need a standing calendar of the specific routes you fly, upgrade inventory as well as award space, and an alert the moment a check finds a date open. That's the product 2LNR is.

Plenty of frequent flyers run both, and there's nothing wrong with that. The comparison above is here so you can decide what your own routes need. If you're also weighing per-flight availability lookups, the [2LNR vs ExpertFlyer comparison](https://2lnr.com/compare/expertflyer.md) covers that tool.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does seats.aero show upgrade availability?**

Yes, for five carriers, on its paid Pro tier. Its Tools menu carried upgrade finders for Alaska first class (U fare class inventory on nonstops within North America), Air Canada eUpgrades (R inventory), Emirates, United PlusPoints and JetBlue Move to Mint when we read it on September 30, 2026, and its home page advertises upgrade availability for flights operated by JetBlue and United. What it did not show is an American systemwide or Delta certificate tool. That is the honest split: on Alaska first-class upgrades the two products look at the same inventory, while American systemwide upgrade space and Delta Global and Regional Upgrade Certificate space are tracked by 2LNR and not by seats.aero.

**How much does seats.aero Pro cost?**

seats.aero Pro is $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, read on seats.aero itself on September 30, 2026. The free tier covers search, explore and alerts for flights departing within the next two months with no registration required; Pro unlocks up to a year of availability on all routes, live search on any route, its Alaska, Air Canada, Emirates, United and JetBlue upgrade finders, advanced alert filters and a Partner API for non-commercial use. Its browser extension works on the free tier too.

**Is there a free seats.aero alternative?**

2LNR has a free plan that shows confirmed upgrade availability on American, Delta and Alaska and award seats on more than 20 airlines, in a calendar matrix for the next 14 days, with on-demand refresh inside that window, plus automatic trip import from Gmail or Outlook, loyalty and status tracking, and route-map browsing without an account. No credit card is required. The full 331-day horizon and unlimited alert rules are included with Pro at $175 a year or $50 a quarter.

**Why do cached award results go stale?**

An aggregator records what it saw when it last looked, and award seats open and close constantly, so a listing can be gone before you read it. That is why seats.aero's Pro tier adds live search, and it is the limitation reviewers raise most often. 2LNR checks availability daily and lets you refresh any cell inside your window on demand, including on the free plan, so what the calendar shows is as fresh as its last check, or as fresh as the moment you refresh it.

**Which is better for award search, seats.aero or 2LNR?**

It depends on the question. For open-ended discovery across many loyalty programs at once, seats.aero covers the 26 programs it tracks and answers that instantly, and its Pro upgrade finders cover Alaska, Air Canada, Emirates, United and JetBlue. For date-flexible tracking of specific routes, American systemwide and Delta certificate space alongside award space across more than 20 airlines, and alerts when a date opens, 2LNR is built for that shape. If Alaska first class is what you watch, either one will show you the inventory. Many flyers run both.
