2LNR's own schedule data holds 34,536,159 scheduled nonstop departures on 50,741 directional airport-to-airport routes, flown by 363 operating carriers between 3,191 airports, over a 396-day window running from 30 days before to 365 days after the day the snapshot was built (measured on September 11, 2026).

These are counts of scheduled flying, not of seats, fares or availability. Every number below is recomputed from the same data the 2LNR route map reads, and the query behind each one is printed in Methodology.

Methodology

Published figures are worth exactly as much as their definitions. Here is what each term means, what the population is, and the query that produced the number.

Definitions

Nonstop
A flight with zero en-route stops. A single flight number that touches down somewhere between its endpoints is excluded everywhere on this page, as it is on the 2LNR route map.
Directional route
An ordered pair of airports. JFK to LAX and LAX to JFK are two routes, because they are two separate schedules that can differ in frequency, equipment and carrier.
Operating carrier
The airline whose metal flies the segment, including its own regional affiliates flying under its brand. Codeshare partners that market a flight they do not operate are excluded, so one physical departure is counted once rather than once per partner.
Scheduled departure
One flight, on one date, scheduled to depart. It is a count of scheduled flying, not of seats, passengers, fares or availability.
Window
396 days: the 30 days before and the 365 days after the day the underlying snapshot was built, inclusive.

How the figures are produced

  1. 2LNR continuously observes airline schedules and records each nonstop segment it sees, by carrier, aircraft type and date.
  2. Those observations are aggregated into a route grain: one row per origin, destination, marketing airline, operating carrier and aircraft type, over the 396-day window.
  3. Rows the marketing carrier does not itself operate are excluded, so a codeshared flight is counted once.
  4. Rows whose implied speed, distance or aircraft range are physically impossible are excluded, and non-airport location codes such as rail and bus stations are excluded.
  5. The four queries below run against that grain. Nothing on this page is estimated, extrapolated, seeded or hand-entered.

Limits worth knowing

  • These counts describe what 2LNR observes, which is not the same as every flight operating in the world. A carrier or route absent here is absent from our data, not necessarily from the sky.
  • Schedules are forward-looking and change constantly. A figure measured today will not reproduce exactly tomorrow.
  • Charter, cargo-only and non-scheduled flying is not represented.
  • No availability of any kind is published here. Seat, upgrade and award inventory is a separate question this report deliberately does not answer.

Questions about these statistics

Where do these airline network statistics come from?
They are computed from 2LNR's own schedule data, which is built by continuously observing airline schedules and recording each nonstop segment by carrier, aircraft type and date. The page runs four queries against that data and prints them verbatim in the Methodology section, so any figure can be traced to its definition rather than taken on trust.
What time period do the figures cover?
A 396-day window: the 30 days before and the 365 days after the day the underlying snapshot was built, inclusive. Schedules are forward-looking and change daily, so a figure measured on one day will not reproduce exactly on another.
Are codeshare flights counted more than once?
No. Airline schedule data stores one row per marketing carrier, so a single physical departure sold by several airlines appears several times. Every count on this page excludes rows the marketing carrier does not itself operate, which collapses those duplicates back to one departure. A carrier's own regional affiliates are kept, because that is the carrier's own flying.
Do these numbers say anything about seat, upgrade or award availability?
No, and that is deliberate. Availability data reflects both what an airline has released and how often it has been checked, so an aggregate over it would describe our own observation cadence as much as the world. This report is limited to counts of scheduled flying, which do not have that problem.
Can these statistics be reused or quoted?
Yes, with attribution, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. A suggested citation and a CSV download are in the Cite this section, and the CSV carries the measurement date and window length on every row.
