How It Works

How Upgrade and Award Alerts Work

2LNR alerts watch upgrade and award availability on the routes, dates, and cabins you choose, and notify you the moment something changes. Upgrade and award inventory can open and close within a few hours, so a person checking an airline app once or twice a day misses most of it. The alert engine runs continuously in the background and reaches you by email, SMS, in-app, or push, whichever channels you turn on.

Key insight: Upgrade and award space is perishable. It can appear on a flight in the afternoon and be gone by evening, which is why checking manually rarely catches it. 2LNR does the checking for you around the clock and tells you the instant a tracked segment changes.

How it works

Four steps, and only the first one takes any effort on your part. Once an alert is set, the monitoring and the notification happen on 2LNR's side.

1

Define what to watch

Pick a route (a single city pair or an entire airport's network), a date range, the cabin or upgrade type you want, and the airline. One alert can cover a full month of flights on that route, not just a single date.

2

2LNR monitors continuously

Once the alert is set, 2LNR's scan pipeline checks upgrade and award inventory on your routes on an ongoing basis, down to the individual flight segment. You do not have to refresh anything or check back yourself.

3

Get notified the moment something changes

When matching availability opens, closes, or changes on a tracked segment, the alert fires through whichever channels you enabled: email, SMS, in-app, or push. You can turn on more than one channel for the same alert.

4

Act while the window is open

Upgrade and award space can close again within hours, so the notification tells you what changed and on which flight, so you can book, apply a certificate, or redeem miles before the space disappears.

What you can track

Alerts cover more than upgrade and award seats. Each of these fires the same way: a change on a tracked flight reaches you through the channels you turned on.

Upgrade space by route and cabin

Confirmed upgrade availability by cabin, matched to the route and date range you set, on American, Delta, and Alaska.

Award space across 30+ airlines

Award inventory across more than 30 partner and international carriers, tracked the same way as the upgrade product.

Seat-quality changes

A notification when a better seat than your current assignment opens up on a flight you're tracking.

Seat loss or reassignment

A notification if your booked seat is moved or taken away.

Aircraft swaps

A notification when the airline changes the aircraft on a tracked flight.

Schedule and price changes

A notification when a tracked flight is retimed or its fare changes.

Frequently asked questions

What notification channels can I use for alerts?
Email, SMS, in-app, and push. You can turn on more than one channel for the same alert, so a change reaches you wherever you're most likely to see it first.
Do alerts track individual flight segments or the whole itinerary?
Individual segments. If your trip has a connection, each leg is evaluated on its own, so a change on one segment is never lost inside an averaged view of the full itinerary.
How fast do alerts fire after availability changes?
2LNR runs its scans in the background around the clock, so a notification goes out once a scan cycle picks up the change on a tracked segment. You don't need the app open or need to be checking anything yourself.
Can I track more than one route at a time?
Yes. You can set alerts on as many routes as you want, each with its own date range, cabin, and airline. Tracking five routes takes the same effort on your end as tracking one, since the scanning happens on 2LNR's side.
Does it cost anything to start?
No. Creating a 2LNR account and browsing upgrade and award availability is free. Alerts are a Pro-tier feature, so turning on notification rules requires a Pro subscription.
How is this different from checking the airline's app myself?
Checking the app yourself only tells you what's available at the exact moment you look. Upgrade and award space can open and close within a few hours, so a gap of half a day between checks can mean missing it. 2LNR checks continuously and tells you the instant something changes, without you having to remember to look.
