When a seat that scores higher than yours opens in your cabin, you hear about it with the seat number. Scoring is cabin-scoped, so the comparison is always against the seats you can actually move to.

Scored, not guessed

"Better seat" is a claim, so it needs a definition. Here is the one 2LNR uses.

Every seat in your cabin gets a score

Flightdeck seat maps score every seat in your cabin on the things that decide whether a seat is worth moving to, window or aisle, where the row sits, and the geometry around it. The top picks are starred. When an alert says a better seat opened, it means a seat that scored above the one you are sitting in.

Recommendations never cross cabins

An open first-class seat is not a recommendation for someone sitting in economy, so 2LNR never presents it as one. Scoring and recommendations stay inside your cabin. Watching for premium-cabin space is a different job, and it belongs to the upgrade and award alerts.

Open means bookable, and paid seats say so

The seat map separates open seats from occupied, blocked, and inoperative ones, so a seat that merely looks empty is never counted as an opening. Seats that carry a fee are ranked on the same footing as any other seat and labeled as paid, so an alert reads "12A (window, paid)" instead of quietly pointing you at a charge.

Yes. Will 2LNR tell me if my seat assignment changes?
Yes. Seat monitoring watches your own assignment, not just the empty seats. If your seat disappears from the map or you have been moved, 2LNR raises it rather than leaving you to notice at check-in, which is usually far too late to get an equivalent seat back. Seat loss and reassignment detection are part of Pro.
What happens when there is an aircraft swap?
An equipment change reshuffles the cabin, and the seat you picked can end up being a different seat or no seat at all. 2LNR compares the flight's seat map over time and flags the aircraft change before you are standing at the gate, so you can reseat while there is still a decent row left to take.
What makes a seat better?
Scoring is cabin-scoped. Every seat in your cabin is scored on window or aisle, row position, and the geometry of the seat itself, and the strongest picks are starred, so "better" means a seat that scored above yours rather than a hunch. Recommendations never cross cabins, and seats that carry a fee are ranked normally but labeled as paid so the cost is never a surprise.
Is 2LNR a SeatGuru alternative?
Partly, and the difference is worth being precise about. SeatGuru was a seat review library: which seat on which aircraft is worth picking in general. It shut down in November 2025 and its address now redirects to Tripadvisor, per the coverage cited in Sources on this page. 2LNR answers the live question instead: on your flight, right now, which seats are open, which one scores best in your cabin, and what has changed since you last looked. If you want static seat ratings, this is not that. If you want to be told when a better seat opens on a flight you are already booked on, that is exactly what it does.
Is this the same as an upgrade alert?
No, and the two are deliberately separate. Seat monitors watch the seat map inside the cabin you are already in. Upgrade and award alerts watch whether premium-cabin space opens at all on a route and date, which is the inventory that decides whether a systemwide upgrade, a Delta certificate, or an award booking clears.
