China Airlines seat maps: which aircraft CI actually flies

In 2LNR's schedule data, China Airlines (CI) flies 5 aircraft types across 60 airports: Airbus A321neo family, Airbus A350-900, Airbus A330-300, Boeing 737-800, and Boeing 777-300ER. Some flights are filed only as a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, without the variant. Knowing which one operates your departure is the first thing to settle before you pick a seat, because cabins differ far more between airframes than between rows. Each aircraft below opens the nonstop routes CI flies it on, with the longest of them and the configuration on file where there is one.

The China Airlines fleet, as actually flown

Aircraft types CI currently schedules on its own metal, each with the nonstop routes it operates, how far those routes run and the cabin configuration CI records for it. Regional flying under the CI brand counts as CI metal; flights CI markets but another airline operates don't.

Route counts are distinct directional nonstop city pairs in 2LNR's schedule data. Where an airline files a family code without naming a variant, the card reads as the family: that's what was filed, and guessing the airframe would be worse than saying so.

Distances are great-circle miles between the two airports, rounded to the nearest ten, not the track a flight actually files. A longest route is shown only where every one of that aircraft's routes could be measured, and a typical route only where most of them could; where the measurement was too thin, the figure is left out rather than estimated.

How to see the seat map for your CI flight

The useful version of this question is per flight, not per aircraft type.

Add the flight, then open its live map

On Pro, 2LNR reads the seat map for the specific CI flight and date you're looking at, scores the open seats inside your own cabin and marks paid seats as paid. It's read at the moment you ask rather than stored, so an aircraft swap shows up as a different map instead of a wrong one.

Then let it watch

Cabins churn in the last days before departure as blocked rows release and upgrades clear. Seat monitoring re-reads the map on a cadence that tightens as departure approaches and tells you when a better seat opens, or when the seat you hold changes underneath you.

More on that in seat monitoring.

If you want a cabin diagram instead

2LNR doesn't publish stored cabin drawings or per-seat comfort ratings for CI aircraft, and this page won't pretend otherwise. For browsing a layout on an aircraft you haven't booked, a maintained diagram library such as AeroLOPA is the right tool.

Frequently asked questions about China Airlines (CI) aircraft

What aircraft does China Airlines fly?
Five aircraft types appear on China Airlines' own metal in 2LNR's schedule data, reaching 60 airports, including Airbus A321neo family, Airbus A350-900, and Airbus A330-300. The full list is on this page, with the nonstop routes each one operates and the recorded cabin configuration where there is one. Regional flying under the CI brand is counted as CI metal; flights CI markets but another airline operates are not.
Does 2LNR publish CI seat maps by aircraft type?
Not as static diagrams. 2LNR reads the LIVE seat map for a specific CI flight and date, which is a different thing from a stored cabin drawing: an aircraft swap shows up as a different map rather than a wrong one. If you want to browse a cabin layout for an aircraft you have not booked, a maintained seat-map library such as AeroLOPA is the right tool, and this page says so rather than pretending otherwise.
How do I see the seat map for my CI flight?
Add the flight to 2LNR and open it. Pro plans pull that departure's live seat map, score the open seats inside your own cabin, and mark paid seats as paid. 2LNR can then keep watching the map for a better seat, which is the part a static CI cabin diagram was never able to do.
Where does this CI fleet information come from?
From the schedules 2LNR collects continuously and uses to build its own route map: every aircraft listed here is one CI has filed against a nonstop route it operates, and the counts are the routes in that data. It is a picture of what is scheduled, not an aircraft register, so a type CI owns but is not currently scheduling will not appear. Route lengths are great-circle distances between the two airports rather than flown track miles.
What is the longest route China Airlines flies?
Of the routes in 2LNR's schedule data, the longest CI operates on its own metal is Taipei (TPE) to New York (JFK), about 7,790 miles great-circle, flown on the Boeing 777-300ER. That is the distance between the two airports rather than the track the flight actually takes, and it is the routing rather than the aircraft that decides it: CI schedules more than one type on many of its routes.
